Fall is coming: don’t FALL off the wagon!!

As cooler weather ushers its way in, heavier clothing, less exercise(because less skin is showing) and heavier eating often accompany it. You know COMFORT FOOD??? Well you can have comfort foods such as meatloaf and mac and cheese…..just use healthier ingredients including ground turkey, lean sirloin, low fat cheese, whole wheat pasta….. Just because you are wearing heavier clothing doesn’t mean we have to get heavier ourselves. Fall is the perfect time to get outside and go for a stroll or a light jog around a park or your neighborhood. Pack a lunch and head to a national park for a hike and to watch the beautiful Fall foliage, jump on your bike and join others in conserving gas and burning some calories. Sign up for the many walking or biking events for a cause :events that intentionally take place in cooler weather months…ie: Race for the Cure.  I could go on and on but you catch my drift. Just don’t FALL off the wagon–try to maintain that BEACH body you had in Summer months.;0)

Pedometers: Movement is the Key to Good Health

This is an easy habit to acquire; all you have
to do is purchase a pedometer and wear it every
time you go for a walk or to work out. This positive
habit will help motivate you to keep walking.

A pedometer is a small, inexpensive device that
you attach to your waist. It senses your body’s
motion and then counts your footsteps. Pedometers
can be a great motivational tool; they have been
used in Japan for over 20 years to increase walking.
You can buy them in most sporting goods stores.

With a pedometer, you can set goals and see yourself
approaching them. Studies have shown that sedentary
people who use pedometers and set goals see improvements
in their body fat and fitness levels that are comparable
to people performing more structured exercises.

Here are some pedometer tips:

* Record steps you take while walking your daily routine.
* Record daily and weekly activity.
* Set a goal of 6,000 to 10,000 steps per day but work
 up to that goal gradually.

Movement is the key to good health…you must move,
and you must move often.

Foods resemble and the organs they fortify

HAPPY SUMMER!! My mother in law sent me this forward because she knew it would be of great interest to me. I’m sharing it with visitors to my blog hoping that it will Enlighten you all as well.  ENJOY and please tell your friends and family to visit my site..   www.flowerchildfitness.com  PEACE!!

Subject: foods resemble and the organs they fortify

A friend sent this to me. It’s been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish… all before making a human. He made and provided what we’d need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw.  We’re such slow learners…

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!
God’s Pharmacy! Amazing!
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye… and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows < /B>tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums.  Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it fro m the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today’s research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this?  It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit . There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (mo dern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actual ly bal ance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries
Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just l ike the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like the body’s cells. Today’s research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

Yep We offer Wii Training!!

Hello,

To all who have come into this blog to see what I find interesting:It’s all about the Wii. Nintendo has created the game of all games (next to another companies games that will remain nameless but those of you who know me know what I’m talking about ;0)  I must credit my Hubby for putting me up on this game before it even came out …..he knows what I do for a living and immediately knew it would be of interest to me.

The Wii Sports bundle is what’s up!!! If you like sports rest assured you will love this.Virtual sports and so real.

I have just started to do a experiential self study with 30minutes of game play on the TENNIS for 5 days a week with intermittent calisthenics and stretching.  My theory is obviously that I will lose weight(which surely can’t be a bad thing;0) Now mind you I’m not on any type of structured DIET so that can surely skew the results but never the less I’m committed to this for 4 weeks. I will check back regularly to let you all know how I’m doing.

The thing I love most about this Wii is that it is truly for all!!! Regardless of age(a child to an elder) and most disabilities, a client can successfully work with this. So many goals you can work towards and so much FUN,FUN,FUN!!

I have successfully gotten my Recreational Therapy department director on board to the extent that she asked me to do a inservice. I took our personal Wii in did the inservice for the department one day and about a month later we had the the hottest gaming system around the Wii. I started working with the Wii with clients with AIDS Dementia thus far …I will keep you posted on that as well.

Peace

Happy New Year!

Wishing you and your family all the best in 2008! Stay tuned for more to come from FlowerChild Fitness.
